Our mission

A team of students and staff at the University of Sydney collaborated to make this resource on generative AI and education.

Our goal is to democratise knowledge and skill of generative AI so that all students everywhere can be equipped with the skills to use this new technology productively and responsibly.

Students

Abby Bobkowski

Abby is an undergraduate in FASS (English) and the Business School, currently undertaking Advanced Coursework in Work and Organisational Studies. Her interest in AI relates to its application to education models particularly in the flipped classroom environment and as an accompaniment to experiential learning. She works in the Educational Innovation Team at Sydney.

Andrisa studied Master of Commerce, with background in Spatial Design and Graphics Media. She has keen interest in exploring the use of generative AI in facilitating visual communications.

Angad is a mechatronics engineering student, who’s keen on broadening his horizons in cutting edge technology like AI.

Annie is a PhD candidate at the School of Computer Science, with a focus on AI in education. She has the skills of a programmer and the heart of an educator, passionately building pedagogical AI systems for learning.

Heidi

Jack is an undergraduate studying Software Engineering and Neuroscience. He's always playing with new technology as most innovations seem like magic using them for the first time.

Josh is a biomedical engineering PhD student with a background in neuroscience. He is excited for the future of AI in research.

Michelle is a Master of Commerce student specialising in Data Analytics and Marketing. She thinks that AI tools are her bestfriend, but she's unsure if they think the same about her.

Peter is a postgraduate student in Master of IT, so development of AI is part of his study. Apart from doing coding on AI, he is also interested in how to apply AI in real-life situation like teaching and learning.

Staff

Aaron is an Educational Designer who enjoys working with teaching teams to identify and remove barriers to student engagement in learning. He is particularly excited about learning from students ways in which generative AI can be harnessed to support learning in and out of the classroom.

Jesse is the Assistant Manager of the Library’s Learning Spaces and Services team. Jesse comes from a background of integrating interdisciplinary technologies in creating physical and digital resources. Our team of student peers (Peer Learning Advisors) support students, through providing experiential tools in creative technologies for students to create and learn.

Levent is an Academic Liaison Librarian supporting research and information/digital literacy teaching. He is passionate and curious about shifts in the research landscape that might impact researchers, as well as developments in software and technology which may cause paradigm shifts in teaching practice.

Michelle is the Library's Manager Research and Information Skills and started life in education before moving into libraries. She leads a team of learning and digital content designers and the Library's AI working group.

Tess is an Academic Liaison Librarian supporting students and researchers in the Faculty of Medicine and Health. She loves going to the movies and starting new craft projects.

Students

Amrutha is a second year Master's student in Data Analytics and BIS, crunching numbers and uncovering insights with airpods and coffee. She's also a furry friend seeker on the streets and hikes, and a budding bartender too.

Helia is a Master of Pharmacy student at the University of Sydney (USYD). She actively serves as a Peer Learning Advisor, sharing her knowledge and helping fellow students navigate their educational journey. In her free time, she finds joy in dancing and immerses herself in the captivating worlds of literature, with books being her constant companions.

Isabella is in her fifth year of a Law and International Relations degree, and is excited by all things law and technology. Outside her studies, she's either learning music mixing as a budding DJ or café hopping across Sydney.

Peggy studied for her PhD in computer science, specialising in artificial intelligence and natural language processing. She enjoys playing piano and playing with her cats.

Victorian is a third-year undergraduate student studying marketing and English. When she isn't immersed in her studies, she's hanging out with her pet snake, Nova, or creating music in her cozy home studio.

Zakwan achieved his Master of Business Administration from USYD earlier this year and is currently enrolled in the Master of Business Law program. With a strong passion for project management and strategy, he aims to leverage his expertise in these areas to carve out a successful career, all while embracing the beauty of nature through activities like bushwalking, caving, and coastal walks during his leisure time.

Staff

Jon Hunter is a Learning Media Producer in the Educational Innovation team. He is passionate about film making, electronic art, music and audio production. He enjoys collaborating with staff from across the university and exploring ways to enhance the media we use to support teaching.

Monique is a French teacher turned Educational Designer who is passionate about students' learning experiences. Outside of work, she loves travelling the world or spend time with her cat bingeing Netflix.

Nikki is an Educational Design Manager with a background in edtech and learning and development. Offline, she can be found boxing or hunting the best place to eat fried chicken in Sydney.
